About Liliana

Liliana Baylon is a bilingual, biliterate, bicultural therapist and global speaker whose work centers on how human beings navigate difference, connection, and the unseen stories that shape our lives. She holds advanced credentials as an LMFT-S, RPT-S, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant, along with an MBA and a master’s degree in Counseling & Marriage, Family, & Child Therapy.

For more than a decade, she has walked alongside families, couples, and children whose lives carry the imprints of migration, trauma, lineage, and cultural adaptation. Her clinical work began within the Latinx community, where she offered therapy and supervision in both English and Spanish. Those early years shaped her understanding of how every relationship holds multiple worlds, histories, nervous system patterns, and inherited ways of loving and protecting.

Today, Liliana is recognized internationally for helping therapists, organizations, and systems meet those worlds with clarity and compassion. Her speaking, training, and consultation practice bridges clinical expertise with cultural attunement, inviting professionals to see what often goes unnoticed in the therapy room: the subtle distances, the micro-differences, and the moments where connection becomes possible.

Her training spans EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Registered Sand Therapist, and Synergetic Play Therapy. Each modality informs her approach to healing and supervision, but her work is guided by a central belief: that curiosity is the strongest pathway toward understanding ourselves and one another.

My Story

At the age of 16 my mother, two younger siblings, and I, immigrated from Mexico to the USA.

We arrived not knowing the norms of this new place and not having an understanding for what we were feeling or experiencing when facing so many unknowns.

We were expected to quickly speak a new language, to fit in, and not have an accent (spoiler alert - to this day, I have undoubtedly failed!). As a teenager I was desperate to be accepted and I did everything to try and fit in, yet in this process, I was letting go of my identity and all that brought me joy and comfort. I also became my family’s cultural broker, helping my mum with translations and making sense of this new world.

My family members all responded differently to survive in the face of this overwhelming transition. For example my mother was searching to stay in close proximity to what was familiar to her in her telenovelas and Mexican recipes.

As a psychotherapist, I have since found the words and theoretical concepts to organise and understand what I/we experienced in the migration process. Moreover, through my years of experience working with immigrants and refugees it has become absolutely clear that these experiences and challenges were far from unique to my family.

It is now my life’s work to take my childhood role of cultural broker in a new direction - bridging gaps in understanding of mental health professionals & organisations, and inspiring them to broaden their cultural lens. I work tirelessly to nurture deeper understanding and empathy towards mental health in relation to global migration. I hope you will join me in reshaping the immigration narrative and building bridges so that immigrants are recognized as strong, brave, kind humans that courageously navigate big risks every day.
